Banana Magic Bars with Granola Crust

Tweaking recipes just a bit can result in a totally different experience. It’s fun and can help when you want something familiar but not exactly what you’ve made the past five times. Here, we have a little twist on the world famous magic bars, a recipe that lends itself easily to change every now and then. I used granola in place of the graham crackers for the crust and bananas along with the condensed milk and the result was a hit.

These magic bars are also a great use of bananas that are a little overripe. Opt for this instead of the traditional banana bread. You’ll get the yummy banana flavor as well as that chocolate fix you’ve been craving!

Banana Magic Bars with Granola Crust

3/4 cup Butter, melted
2 cups Granola, coarsely ground
2 ripe Bananas, mashed
1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 1/2 cups Semisweet Chocolate Chips
1 cup Shredded Coconut
3/4 cup Walnuts, chopped

Preheat oven to 325 degrees and line a 13×9 inch pan with parchment paper. Butter the sides and parchment.

Mix together the melted butter and granola, then press into prepared pan.

Whisk the mashed banana and condensed milk until smooth and pour over the top of the crust.

Sprinkle with the chocolate chips, coconut and walnut, then press down firmly.

Bake for 25-30 minutes. Allow to cool completely, and cut into desired size pieces.

Plate and Enjoy!
