Ketchup can get a bit boring at times and here is a quick recipe to spice it up a bit…. Literally.
I used store bought ketchup for this (don’t hate me) but it really did take the ketchup to another level. I’ll try it with my homemade recipe sometime and share that because I can only imagine how delicious it would be then!
I love chipotle peppers in adobo and the smokiness they add to dishes. They worked so well here, especially paired with the honey. At first, I thought it all might end up being a bit too sweet, but the honey and chipotle pepper balanced each other out perfectly.
This ketchup came about as a result of wanting a quick, slightly spicy condiment to my Baked Butternut Squash Fries that was more than just a splash of Tabasco in ketchup and short of making a homemade batch. The spiciness actually balanced the sweetness of the butternut squash as well and really did elevate fries and ketchup to gourmet standards.
I’m inspired to try even more combinations and share them with you! Hope you are too :). Store this in an airtight container in your fridge and use with anything you would like ketchup on.
Chipotle Honey Ketchup
1 Cup
1 Chipotle Pepper in Adobo,
2 tbsp Honey
1 cup Ketchup
In a blender or mini food processor, process the chipotle pepper and honey until smooth. Add the ketchup and blend to combine. Serve with your favorite ketchup buddy and enjoy!
